What do Germans miss most in Brussels?

Pain gris?! German bread is the best in the world!

You don't believe me? Then you have never been to a German bakery and smelled the amazing scent of freshly baked bread in all kinds of shapes and sizes. And yes, they actually contain cereals!

And even though Belgium and Germany are geographically so close and even share a border, this passion for good bread has never spread…

The dry, packaged slices of bread in the supermarkets imported from Germany piling up on the shelves for months are rather insulting compared with true fresh German bread. The closest you can get to "Schwarzbrot" are the "pain gris" that only have three tiny sunflower seeds on top… impressive!

Admittedly, German baguettes might be slightly inferior to Belgian ones though…
